Intro

Ever been asked what you did last night/last weekend and not been able to remember? And not because of the drinking but maybe because you're getting old? I thought it would be fun just to start writing down where and what I've eaten, drunk or seen in a day "just so's I 'member"

Well, I'm not giving up

Time is just flying by these days. And I'm still going to keep putting notes up here. I'm not that far behind yet. It's been another banner month and a half. I really didn't realize when I started this that I was going to have so many things that I wanted to 'member. I'll try not to keep saying that but I'm still really amazed.

So I left off on my way to visit John & Becca & Harrison in Ottawa. On the train ride there, saw my first robin of the spring - better late than never - and then in Smith Falls I saw a run down building called "The Celtic Conservatorium."  It looked like some kind of meeting hall but I've not figure out anything about it yet. I didn't have my camera but someone else has found the same thing and not gotten anywhere either. I got a tour of the National Arts Centre theatre (and a key chain). It was Becca's last day there as she was starting a new adventure as the GM of the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival. (Sorry about the ads but local tv needs money too) Then to pick up Harry and spend a lovely weekend with my great friends. There was much talking, both reminiscing and planning for the future. There were field trips, First out to the Drummond sugar bush for Pancake breakfast. Spectacular syrup and I got a bottle of my favourite Light syrup - not light in calories but in colour - although I sometimes wish it was both. Then I asked if we could go on the tractor ride. I always hesitate when the tourist things are there because I know not everyone wants to them but I'm trying to stop worrying soooo much about what other people think (although I still want everyone to love me, of course). John, his dad and sister stayed back but Becca and I took Harry on the ride. It was simple but fun - I need more things like that. The mud was deep and kind of, well, scary. The driver had a great time making us think we were going to get stuck but I'm not convinced that we wouldn't have.

Becca and I went into Ottawa to see an English translation of a "Saint Carmen of the Main" by Michel Tremblay. Unfortunately, both Becca and I were disappointed. Set and costumes were great but actors just didn't look comfortable in their clothes or in their words. It was too bad because I do really like Tremblay but something was really missing. But it was great to go to a play again. It's been a while.

Most recently I went to my first "Proms" had a blast. Just a reminder of the special kind of crazy of people who are from the UK or of UK heritage. I hope this is not offensive and I am speaking off myself as much as anyone else. I now have a Scottish flag for my own heritage and a Welsh for the increasing number of Welsh people that I am coming across - Jasper Fforde and the conductor of the night, Maestro Grant Llewellyn ( who filled in when Maestro Bramwell Tovey had to go back to England after his mother's passing).

I seem to be preferring large aggressive red beasts.
Well RAWR! Until next time.
